Dendrocalamus is a genus of the bamboo plant native to South and Southeast Asia. Much like the genus Bambusa, it is cultivated both as a wood and for its young shoots which are edible. Dendrocalamus latiflorus is more commonly known as the Taiwan Giant Bamboo and is native to Taiwan and China. Its edible shoots are particularly sweet which has also led to it being named, Sweet Bamboo.
