Bambusa is a genus of flowering plants of the grass family known commonly as the bamboo. Besides being cultivated as a wood, the young shoots of bamboos are also edible and popular in South and Southeast Asia. Bamboo sap is also used to make wine (ulanzi) in some parts of the world. The species Bambusa vulgaris or Common Bamboo is native to India and China and is one of the most widely grown bamboos in the world.
